Yellowstone season four will be airing on The Paramount Network from November 7 and no one will be safe in the premiere episode. Viewers are still waiting to find out what happened to the Dutton family after they were targeted by anonymous assassins. Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) has been one of the main suspects, but fans have spotted a harrowing clue that could change everything.
Yellowstone season four will pick up directly after the explosive events of the season three finale, which saw the Duttons left for dead.
With viewers still deliberating over who ordered the attacks on the family, the same names keep emerging.
Many fans are convinced outsider Jamie Dutton had some level of involvement in organising the attacks on his family.
However, after new footage has emerged on social media, they believe he could have been none the wiser.
On October 19, the official Instagram page for Yellowstone shared another promotional video announcing the release.
In the clip, Jamie is seen pointing a gun and a gunshot is heard, but there is no evidence of who was killed.
Fans took to the comments to ask who he shot, with graciebogart5 saying: “I was to know who Jamie is shooting?”
While most viewers thought it was his real father, Garrett Randall (Will Patton), others suggested it could have been himself.
Graciebogart5 responded: “I was wondering if it was too. Which then made me believe was it his bio father that tried to kill everyone? The suspense is killing me!”
There is a chance Jamie had no idea what his real father had been plotting and is overcome with guilt.
In season three, Garrett told Jamie he needed to “kill the king” if he wanted control of the ranch.
This led fans to believe Garrett was involved in the attacks as he stayed true to his words.
There are viewers who think Jamie does not have it in him to kill his own family, so he could have no idea about what his father had plotted and may not be able to live with the truth.
Other fans have suggested he could be shooting some other suspects such as Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway) or Willa Hayes (Karen Pittman).
They turned to Reddit to discuss the theory that Jamie could cause his own demise eventually.
Donal-m said: “What did John mean when he said to Jamie, ‘You could’ve jumped in the river…’ in season two?
“In episode six, after John sees the news report of Sarah’s “drowning,” he finds Jamie at the fireplace and says, ‘You could’ve jumped in the river, but hurting yourself never entered your mind, did it?’
“Does he mean that instead of killing Sarah, Jamie could’ve just did everyone a favor and solved the problem by killing himself?
“Did John think that Jamie should’ve tried to save Sarah? Or did John, using a “river” analogy, think of the killing as just another example of Jamie’s selfishness?
“Apologies if the answer is obvious, but for the life of me, I have no firm idea what John meant.” [Sic]
MairmanChao responded: “It was probably intended as you said, John saying that to mean (as I perceived it) that Jamie would go to extreme lengths for self preservation but wouldn’t actually put himself at risk for the good of others.
“John is wise to what Jamie did and knows that instead of making himself scarce he made Rip and Walker cover his tracks and thus implicated them all and the Ranch in his antics.
“While I do think Jamie was set up in a bad way, there are some things (no spoilers) that I do think have shown how Jamie has earned some of the hate.” [Sic]
Others believe season four will see Jamie seek redemption and choose his adoptive father John (Kevin Costner) over his deceitful biological father.
Hopefully, fans will not have to wait long before discovering Jamie’s ultimate fate.
Yellowstone season 4 will air on The Paramount Network on November 7.
