Why Jessica Lange Is (Probably) Done With AHS—Again

Prashant Gupta/FX

If you rejoiced when Jessica Lange returned to American Horror Story season eight, AHS: Apocalypse, and thought that meant she was back in the fold for good, well, you better sit down.

In an interview with The Wrap, Lange, who is a Grammy shy from an EGOT, said she returned to the franchise just for Constance Langdon and doesn’t think she’ll be back again.

“I did this because it was recreating Constance, which was– for me, it was a very important time when I did that first season, Murder House,” Lange said. She was nominated for an Emmy for playing the role again, but lost to Cherry Jones of The Handmaid’s Tale.

So, why no more AHS for Lange? Well, this season her old pals Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Frances Conroy aren’t deeply involved if they’re around at all, so she doesn’t think it’d be the same experience. Plus, “I don’t think I would want to start from scratch and create a character,” she said.

Lange starred in the first four seasons of the FX anthology series.

That doesn’t mean her work with American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy is done. She’s part of the cast of The Politician on Netflix with Ben Platt and Gwyneth Paltrow, and she’s working with him on another series for the streamer.

“Jessica Lange and I are working on a piece about Marlene Dietrich in Vegas in the early ’60s,” Murphy told Time.

It’s hard to keep track of all of his projects, which range from the FX shows like AHS, Pose and American Crime Story, to his Netflix movies and series. There are a lot of balls in the air, so exactly when they Dietrich series come around is still in question.

“But I’m so booked. When am I going to do it? I don’t know,” he said. “I’m only into April of next year’s calendar.”

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 10 p.m. on FX.

Coronation Street spoilers: Tyrone heartbroken as Evelyn Plummer uncovers Fiz’s affair?

Fiz Stape (played by Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) will be seen in tense situations on Coronation Street next week as the mechanic learns of his partner’s secretive behaviour, making him question whether she’s having an affair.

Suspicions about Fiz start to grow when a confused Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) notices a birthday card sent to Fiz from Hope’s teacher in Birmingham.

To add to that, next week’s episode will see Fiz making some furtive phone calls to somebody whilst sitting in the pub, telling the caller she needs and misses them.

Oblivious to Fiz, a suspicious Tyrone will overhear and demands to know who she’s talking to.

Will matriarch Evelyn figure it out and spill the beans to a worried Tyrone?

READ MORE: Paul Foreman’s dark secret revealed in harrowing scenes.

  • Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt to ‘stab rapist Josh’

Things between Fiz and her long-term partner Tyrone have not been easy, especially as Hope’s behaviour spirals out of control and her driving a wedge between them.

The factory fire is the most recent example of a troubled Hope being caught out by Tyrone, resulting in an argument with his partner.

And it didn’t get any better when Fiz asked teaching assistant Jade to move in with them to help Hope read and settle back into school despite Tyrone’s reluctance.

Although these could all be signs that their relationship is just not working, it will have devastating consequences for Tyrone, leaving him heartbroken.

The storyline comes after Fiz and Hope (Isabella Flanagan) were recently welcomed back to the ITV soap.

They had been away at a behavioural school in Birmingham after Hope displayed worrying behaviour earlier in the year.

Could this be where Fiz struck up a romance with her mystery man?

Actress Jennie has teased the significance of Fiz’s phone call, saying: “You hear Fiz speaking on the phone, and this is clearly something confidential to her.

“As soon as Tyrone walks in, we see Fiz hangs up without a cue, and at one point he even catches her saying ‘I miss you’ down the phone.”

However, the soap star also said: “It’s not necessarily what people might think,” which means it may not even be an affair but rather, something further from the obvious.

Corrie fans will certainly keep an eye on what Fiz has been hiding in next week’s episode as the suspense continues.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Paul Foreman (Paul Ash) will lash out at Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) in the cafe, arguing that despite him having underage sex with Kel, it was consensual.

  • Coronation Street spoilers: Fiz’s daughter Hope burns builder’s yard

Although Paul is on the verge of opening up to Billy, Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) interrupts them.

Later Billy spots Kel joining Paul, Bernie, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) in the Rovers playing happy families.

However, when Kel shows a bunch of old photos, Paul realises just how young he was and doesn’t take it too well, drinking his sorrows away.

Billy tracks down a shocked Paul who then opens up and says everything he’s been blocking out are flooding back.

Coronation Street returns tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.

Orange Is The New Black season 7: What did Frieda do in OITNB?

Dale Soules starred as Freida Berlin in Orange Is the New Black from the show’s inception in 2013. Across the first six seasons, Freida and Red (played by Kate Mulgrew) were close friends but by season seven things between them had turned sour. What did Frieda do in OITNB? Here’s everything you need to know.

What did Frieda do in OITNB?

By the end of OITNB, Freida was in nobody’s good books, particularly Red’s.

In season six, it was revealed that Freida had already served time in the supermax facility the Litchfield inmates had been moved too.

In the ‘80s, Freida had sold contraband with fellow inmate Carol Denning (Henney Russell).

After their stash went missing, Freida framed Carol’s sister Barbara (Mackenzie Phillips) and the two siblings became bitter rivals until their deaths.

However, it was revealed that Frieda had made a deal with the prison warden to turn in the stash so she could be transferred to Litchfield, a minimum-security prison.

In season six when the inmates of Litchfield were transferred to supermax after the prison riot of season five, Frieda was fearing for her life after being reunited with Carol.

As a result, Freida made several attempts to take her own life but Red managed to talk her out of it.

Together, they came up with a plan to get Freida transferred to B-block, also known as “Florida’ where many of the elderly and mentally vulnerable inmates were being held.

Freida then betrayed Red by telling the investigators about her involvement in the riots and blaming her for uncovering the bunker when it was Freida who had led them there.

Red was not the only one betrayed by Frieda, Taystee (Danielle Brooks) was also ratted out by Soules’ character.

In the season six finale, Red strangled Frieda in the corridor, after hearing it as Frieda who had implicated her in the riots.

Finally letting go of Frieda, Red broke down in tears asking why she betrayed her and how she thought they were friends.

At the end of season six, Freida’s life was in danger with Carol and Barb putting aside their differences and planning to kill Freida.

However, they ended up killing each other before they could get to Frieda.

In season seven of OITNB, Red and Freida were reunited after Red was transferred to B- Bloc.

Frieda accidentally bumped into Red and knocked over her tray of food.

Fearing for her life, Frieda apologised frantically but Red did not seem bothered and asked to sit with her at lunch.

Frieda was unaware that Red was suffering from dementia, and couldn’t remember what happened between them.

When Red realised she knew Frieda but couldn’t remember why, Freida shut down her claims, convincing her they’d never met before.

Towards the end of season seven, Red had a moment of realisation about Freida.

When Lorna (Yael Stone) reminded Red of her grandson, it soon became apparent that Frieda’s betrayal prevented her from seeing him.

At this point Red snapped and went to attack Frieda, telling her: “I remember,” before rambling in Russian.

She chased Frieda around the communal area, threatening to kill her.

Frieda was able to lock herself in her cell and shouted that she would wait until Red “loses her mind again.”

The last viewers saw of Freida, she was getting locked in her cell and Red pulled away from the door by prison guards.

Talk of a Princess Bride remake widely panned by fans and celebs

Despite the CEO’s comments being only a few lines in the piece they blew up on Twitter with fans sharing their disgust at the mere mention of messing with the original.

One fan wrote: ‘I like that in these chaotic times we can all put aside our differences and agree that no one should remake The Princess Bride’.

Actor Jamie Lee Curtis – whose husband Christopher Rugen starred in the fantasy film as villain Count Rugen – shared her disapproval: ‘Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man, obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. “Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!”‘

Now this is true love!

Set in the mythical kingdom of Florin, the fairy tale adventure – based on the William Goldman novel of the same name – follows the story of a young woman and her one true love who goes on an epic quest to find and save her.

The Princess Bride, starred Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Christopher Rugen, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Robin Wright, Billy Crystal, and many others.

It is said ‘cynics are simply thwarted romantics’.

Remember little Tabitha from ‘Bewitched’? See her then and now

Samantha Stephens’ daughter is definitely all grown up!

The classic late-’60s sitcom “Bewitched” starred Elizabeth Montgomery as the beautiful and magically gifted Samantha, but a pint-sized co-star often stole the scene: Erin Murphy, who played little Tabitha during the show’s 1966 – 1972 run. (Fans with sharp memories will recall that Erin shared the role with her twin sister, Diane, before eventually taking over the whole role as they grew up and started to look less alike.)

If you need a quick refresher, this clip will do the trick:

After “Bewitched” came to an end, Murphy remained close with Elizabeth Montgomery, who played her on-screen mother. Montgomery passed away in 1995.

As she grew older, Murphy found success as a TV host and correspondent as well as an in-demand infomercial personality. In more recent years, she’s appeared on a number of reality shows, and she’s also a motivational speaker who works with charity organizations.

Today, Murphy is 55 and the mother of six children. Here’s what she looks like these days!

AGT's Gabrielle Union & Julianne Hough Reflect on Which Acts Have Inspired Them This Season

The season finale of America’s Got Talent is here!

As judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough wrap up their inaugural seasons on the NBC competition series, the ladies reflect on season 14 before one contestant is crowned champion.

“What I’ve learned about being a part of this show is the fact that talent is ageless, genderless and it’s for everyone,” says Hough, 31, adding that the show is “so inclusive and allows people to be fully expressed.”

Hough, who rose to fame on Dancing with the Stars as a winner and judge, continues, “I’m very grateful.”

Union, 46, and Hough replaced longtime AGT judges Mel B and Heidi Klum this season. Host Terry Crews took over for Tyra Banks.

Calling this past season “so incredible,” Hough gives a special shout-out to the child contestants.

“There’s a lot of amazing young kids that are not just talented, but they have this mission and message behind what they are trying to say with their talent,” she says.

Meanwhile, Union describes her first-time as an AGT judge as “emotional.”

“It’s emotional for me to watch people come so close to their dreams coming true and being so close. Seeing their faces contort and anguish in pain, I don’t like it. I don’t find that entertaining,” she says.

Union, who welcomed daughter Kaavia in November 2018, is especially inspired by her Golden Buzzer choice, singer Kodi Lee, who is blind and was diagnosed with autism.

“Hopefully, it’s going to be a little easier for parents with special needs children to get the resources that they need,” the L.A.’s Finest actress says of Kodi being an example to others. “All of them can get the chance for their dreams to come true and for them to reach their fullest potential.”

As for the two-part finale, Hough explains what is “going to separate people” in the last round of the competition.

“There’s one thing if you come out and you have a great voice or you do a great trick. But if you have a purpose and reason behind what you are doing, that is ultimate success with fulfillment,” she says. “If you don’t, it’s not sustainable.”

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays (8 p.m. ET) on NBC.
