Claim to Fame Contestants Have to Follow These Rules In Order to Be On the Show
The contestants on Claim to Fame may be living in a mansion while on the show, but there are still some rules that they have to follow!
The reality show centers on 12 celebrity relatives who conceal their identity while living under one roof, and have to try and uncover who each other’s famous relatives are, through competition challenges, strategic partnerships and more.
Leading up to being on the show and while they are there, there are several things that they must adhere to in order for them to be on the show and remain on it.
If you recall, in season one, a contestant got disqualified from the game for violating a rule and sneaking in a cell phone.

Executive producers on the show, Eric Detwiler and Scott Teti, opened to People about the show and shared the rules that they must follow in order to get on the show, and to stay in the competition. Check ‘em out below!
- 1. They have to go through a screening process, which consists of multiple interviews and background checks.
- 2. They must be at least 18 years old.
- 3. They must be directly related to their relative – cannot be step, distant or far-removed relatives. Basically, has to be a close relative like a sibling, parent, aunt/uncle or grandparent.
- 4. The relative doesn’t have to be living.
- 5. If the contestant is related to more than one celebrity, they can only choose one.
- 6. The contestants have to turn over their electronic devices and cannot be in possession of any during the time of filming.
- 7. They can’t pick their roommates and are assigned what room they’re staying in.
- 8. They have to submit their “2 Truths and a Lie” from the premiere episode in advance.
- 9. They do not have to use their real name. Ex: Jane in season two, her name is actually Jada.
- 10. They can spy on their fellow contestants, to a certain extent – they can’t go through other people’s belongings.
- 11. Every contestant has the same amount of clues in the entire game.
- 12. During the guess off, they have to say the celebrity relatives name correctly in order for it be right.
- 13. Once they’re eliminated, they don’t immediately go home – they’re sequestered until the finale!
