Escape to the Chateaus Dick Strawbridge hints at TV return after show axe

Angel Adoree scolds Dick Strawbridge over chateau renovation

Dick and Angel Strawbridge remained tight-lipped about a potential return of the chateau series.

During a candid Q&A for their book launch, The Chateau Forever Home, the married couple, who were joined by their children Arthur and Dorothy, were quizzed about their renovation series.

Speaking at The Barbican on Monday evening, Dick, 64, swiftly moved on when an audience member questioned if there would ever be another series in France, he mused: “Hold on… you would have to wait and find out,” before adding: “Moving on.”

His response left attendees laughing after he dodged the question while on stage.

Escape to the Chateau follows their renovation of a 19th-century chateau in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France, for nine series, beginning in 2016 and ending in December 2022.

The show ended after rumours emerged of “a deteriorating relationship between [production company]Two Rivers and Dick and Angel’s Chateau TV for various reasons”.

However, the couple produced their own statement insisting that there are “two sides to every story” and claiming that it had been their decision to end the business partnership.

Addressing their reasoning behind their move to France eight years ago, Angel admitted the pair could not agree on where to live in the UK.

“I’m living and loving London and [Dick] is a country boy,” she explained. “We never really agreed on where we wanted to live together.”

Angel continued: “It was our first holiday in France together and we just fell in love. We knew we would eventually move there because we agreed on it.”

The couple have since announced they will be launching their very own podcast in the coming weeks.
