Helen Flanagan recently jetted off on her first holiday abroad as a single mum to sun-soaked Barbados with her three children.
But while the former Corrie actress enjoyed spending quality time with her brood during the getaway she described on social media as "paradise", she missed having ex Scott Sinclair around.
A source close to the actress told OK! that for Helen, going on days out with just the four of them, and seeing other families together, was a reminder of how much she appreciated having a traditional family unit.
But they added that Helen, 32, who shares Matilda, eight, Delilah, five, and two-year-old Charlie with her former fiancé, has no regrets about separating from Bristol Rovers player Scott, who she dated for 13 years.
The source said, "Seeing families together while she’s on her own with the kids does make Helen miss having that family unit, because it’s what she always wanted. But she knows she can’t go back to Scott."
They added, "She is so family oriented and always dreamt of the mum, dad and kids dynamic – she misses when they were like that."
Helen documented her holiday – which included a boat trip and swimming in the sea – with fans on Instagram.
"My babies," she captioned a photo of herself and the children posing outside at the Sandy Lane Hotel.
On a sweet picture of her and Matilda, she wrote, "My best friend, grateful, unbreakable and unconditional, our bond."
And on another snap with her son Charlie, she wrote, "My crazy little man. Charlie was so funny on holiday. He kept singing, ‘Girl on fire’ after hearing it once at the hotel. And every single bird he saw, he would run after shouting ‘Chicken.’"
She also posted a racy photo of herself topless in the outdoor shower with the caption, "Gratitude."
Helen split with Scott, 33, in July last year.
In April, she fuelled rumours they were getting back together when she was pictured wearing her engagement ring during a holiday in Dubai with her children and Scott.
But Helen later explained why she was wearing it, saying, "I find it a comfort as I’m used to having a rock on my finger."
She also said of their shared time in Dubai, "Scott was there on a break from training, so we spent a day together with the kids. That was it."
Now, a year on from their separation, Helen, who previously admitted to being on exclusive dating app Raya, is finally ready to move on with someone new.
"She is starting to be ready to date again and look for something but also doesn’t want to rock the boat," our source said.
