James Jordan slams treatment of Layton Williams but still wouldnt vote for him
James Jordan has revealed Layton Williams wouldn’t be getting his vote on Strictly Come Dancing, as he has “too much experience” – but that didn’t dampen his sympathy for the Bad Education star after he got brutally trolled. Layton has been accused of “robbing” and “forcing out” other contestants, with some believing it isn’t a balanced competition if one celebrity appears to have a background in dancing professionally.
The 29-year-old had previously admitted that he has “some degree” of training in jazz, ballet and tap, leading to accusations of him having an unfair advantage. Talking in a new video episode of Hello! Magazine’s The Strictly Truth, James gave his own take on the topic, recalling: “Layton has been getting so much hate about the fact that he’s in the show.
“Well, I think that’s disgusting. I can stand here and say I wouldn’t vote for him and I wouldn’t want him to win because I feel he’s got too much experience [but it] doesn’t stop me from enjoying his performance and loving what he’s doing! I know he’s been getting hate for other things, which I think is absolutely disgusting and I actually feel really sorry for him because it’s not his fault.”
The former Strictly pro, who was a finalist on the show back in 2012 with Denise Van Outen, added that Layton was invited onto the show and would have been “a fool” to turn down the opportunity. Incidentally, way back when he and Denise almost reached the Glitterball trophy, James was forced to defend her from similar claims of an unfair advantage.
She’d been to theatre school and had showcased some moves in her time, after starring in musicals such as Legally Blonde. However, James insisted that in her case, as he had trained her himself, he “knew” she wasn’t a professional dancer at the time she entered the competition.

Meanwhile, the star also offered his critique of EastEnders star Bobby Brazier’s Dirty Dancing moment last weekend.
“[He and Dianne] were taking on probably the most iconic dance in history!” he exclaimed, adding that he’d had “goose-pimples” on his arms as he watched it.
However, he didn’t feel Bobby had quite measured up to his “idol”, the late Patrick Swayze, admitting that he was a tough actor to live up to.
Bobby, who is just 20, and pro partner Dianne Buswell, 34, have been firm favourites during the competition – and James has deliberated whether his dedicated fans would be able to vote him into the final.

James went on to predict that Layton was “probably going to be top of the leaderboard” at the final, although he personally “wouldn’t pick up the phone and vote for him”.
He also predicted that tennis ace Annabel Croft is likely to be the next celebrity to be eliminated.
James argued that “Layton, Ellie [Leach] and Bobby all really deserve their place in the final more than Annabel”.
The Strictly Come Dancing action returns to viewers’ TV screens this Saturday at 7:35pm on BBC One.
