Matthew Perry makes very rare appearance as he undergoes outfit change in store

Matthew Perry has not been seen in the public eye much since he released his tell-all memoir last November, detailing his battle with addiction.

The Friends alum appeared to be doing some urgent shopping in Los Angeles as he was spotted taking a trip to a Nike store, before changing his outfit inside the store.

The Hollywood star was spotted in a casual outfit during the outing, wearing a light blue sweater, loose dark blue sweats, a backward bright red baseball cap, and black-and-white Nike trainers.

He then emerged from the store in an entirely different outfit, now sporting a polo-style t-shirt and matching navy shorts.

Matthew was also spotted in a third outfit the same day as he sported a dark grey Nike polo paired with black knee-length shorts.

This is the first sighting of the actor in months, despite having recently celebrated turning 54 last month.

Matthew took on a big PR trip when he released his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing last year, detailing his journey through addiction.

Speaking to People about his decision to share his story, he said: “I wanted to share when I was safe from going into the dark side of everything again.

“I had to wait until I was pretty safely sober — and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction — to write it all down.

“And the main thing was, I was pretty certain that it would help people.”

In his memoir, Matthew opens with the revelation that he almost died at age 49, having suffered a gastrointestinal perforation at the time.

The actor had spent weeks in hospital fighting for his life after his colon burst from opioid overuse.

He spent two weeks in a coma and five months in the hospital and had to use a colostomy bag for nine months.

The Chandler Bing star recalled: “The doctors told my family that I had a two percent chance to live.

“I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs. And that’s called a Hail Mary. No one survives that.”

His book also raised some eyebrows when he appeared to have bashed Hollywood heartthrob Keanu Reeves.

Perry questioned actors like Reeves “still walks among us” while other actors such as River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died prematurely.

He issued an apology amid backlash for the comments.
