Birkenstock Replicates the Ridged Textures of Corduroy in Latest Collection
This season, Birkenstock releases an extensive collection that finds its signature suede leather transformed into a new corduroy look.
Looking back to the origins of the material where durability was innovated in a thick, parallel weave, the brand’s newly engineered version embosses its hard-wearing suede with lines to mimic a similar style. This unique interpretation on corduroy results in crafted, workwear feel that maintains the functionality of its existing textiles.
Debuting the suede treatment in a new collection, Birkenstock serves up an extensive line-up of iterations, bringing swathes of corduroy to sandals and closed-toe shoes. On its strapped models – including the Boston, Kyoto and London – the brand balances the embossed texture with panels of soft suede to create a variegated look whilst its Bend Low model adopts the new fabric across the entire upper
For the initial drop, Birkenstock releases the models in an array of neutral and vivid colorways. From classic Cork Brown and Indigo to more statement-worthy Sienna Red, Purple Fog and Antique White, the range offers up a mix of deeply dyed footwear to suit any style.
Allowing the new colorways to sing against a dark backdrop, the accompanying campaign takes place in a hallowed industrial warehouse. Based in Manchester with street-cast locals, the visuals come together as an homage to the birthplace of corduroy and its workwear heritage.
