Eerie Donald Trump tweet about Russell Brand and Katy Perry resurfaces

Donald Trump’s damning tweet mentioning his scepticism of Russell Brand has resurfaced amid sexual assault allegations brought against the comedian.

The 48-year-old Get Him To The Greek actor is facing allegations of sexual assault, dating back to the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013, from four women.

Brand vehemently denies the allegations and said, in a video posted online on Friday night, that while he was ‘promiscuous’, all of his relationships have been ‘consensual’.

Following the accusations, a tweet shared by Trump, 77, has reared its head online, outlining his distaste for the British star.

Trump’s virtual message from 2014 began: ‘Katy, what the hell were you thinking when you married loser Russell Brand. There is a guy who has got nothing going, a waste!’

Brand was married to US pop star Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 and is now married to Laura Gallacher – the sister of presenter Kirsty Gallacher.

The couple have two children, Mabel and Peggy, with a third on the way.

Claims against Brand were made in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches, and include allegations about the star’s controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour.

The BBC, Channel 4 and a production company have said they are ‘urgently’ investigating after four women made separate allegations of sexual assault while he was a presenter on their programmes.

One of the alleged victims, who is being referred to as Alice, claims she was in a relationship with Brand when she was 16 and at school and he was 30 and 31 and appearing on BBC radio.

She says he groomed her, referred to her as ‘The Child’ and assaulted her during their three-month relationship.

The broadcaster said it is ‘urgently looking into the issues raised’ while Brand worked on BBC radio programmes between 2006 and 2008.

The comedian’s former agency Tavistock Wood, commented on the allegations and said in a statement sent to Metro.co.uk: ‘Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him.

‘TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.’

Metro.co.uk contacted Trump, Katy and Brand’s reps for comment.
