FC Barcelona and Spotify Team Up With The Rolling Stones for New Kit Collaboration
Spotify and Barcelona have just presented a limited-edition The Rolling Stones kit ahead of Barcelona’s world-famous El Clásico clash with fellow Spanish football giant, Real Madrid next weekend.
Embracing the same design concept for its iconic home jersey, Barcelona will replace the customary Spotify branding in the center of the jersey for The Rolling Stones’ Tongue and Lips logo, celebrating the band’s forthcoming album, Hackney Diamonds, which is due to drop on October 20.
The Rolling Stones’ music has been the backdrop for listeners around the world on Spotify, soundtracking the lives of fans near and far, young and old. With this in mind, The Rolling Stones’ next project looks to encapsulate this notion, with this upcoming album being the band’s first batch of original material in 18 years — and it’s using the El Clásico as the perfect stage to celebrate.
Additionally, this one-off jersey comes hot on the heels of the Drake and Rosalía kits Barcelona wore last season. Both jerseys were hit with the artists’ customary logos, replacing the Spotify shirt sponsor to celebrate an achievement. Drake’s accolade was reaching 50 billion streams on Spotify, while Rosalía’s was to mark the release of her smash-hit album, Motomami.
Commenting on their new collaboration, The Rolling Stones said: “We’re huge football fans and honored that Spotify has brought our Tongue and Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of The Stones’ new Hackney Diamonds album. We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.”
You can take a closer look at the new The Rolling Stones-branded Barcelona jersey above and it’ll be available to shop via FC Barcelona’s official webstore from October 23. What’s more, is that the limited-edition jerseys will also come alongside a select number of signed kits from the men’s and women’s starting 11.
