Fury as Sandra Bullock's 'split' reported by magazine after partner's death

There has been major backlash to a US magazine claiming Sandra Bullock and partner Bryan Randall have had a ‘messy split’ – despite the issue coming days after the photographer’s death was announced.

Randall died on August 5 at the age of 57, after a private three-year battle with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

It is widely known that Bullock was praised as the ‘best caretaker’ to Randall during his illness and has been showered with love following news of her long-time partner’s death.

However, Star magazine has now published its latest edition, complete with Bullock and Randall on the front cover, claiming the pair have split up.

In it, an anonymous source claims the actress and her partner had relationship issues ‘for months’ and that they had broken the news to their children.

The magazine was released on Friday, six days after Randall’s death, and claims there was ‘heartbreak, jealousy and separate bedrooms’ in the lead-up to the ‘split’.

It was claimed that Bullock had not been seen out and about with her partner in a while, and claimed this was because they had ‘made the difficult decision’ to split up.

The source claimed Randall had been ‘resentful’ of Bullock’s career, and alleged they had split when Bullock returned to acting after last year announcing she was taking a break.

In reality, Randall was in the final stages of ALS, also known as Motor Neurone Disease, which affects patient’s muscles leading them to becoming unable to walk, speak, swallow and, eventually, breathe.

The magazine makes no mention of Randall’s illness or death.

Fans have been outraged by the publication, with anger rising as the cover began circulating on social media.

Another horrified onlooker wrote: ‘What a disaster! How can we be so bad?’ with one writing: ‘This is AWFUL how’s it been allowed to go to print? … It’s really really bad.’

Randall’s death was announced on Monday by his devastated family, who shared ‘with great sadness’ that he had ‘passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS.’

‘Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request,’ they continued to People Magazine.

‘We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.

‘At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.’

Randall and Bullock have been together since 2015, first meeting when the talented photographer shot her son’s birthday party.

They went public with their relationship later that year and moved in together in 2016, blending their families: Bullock is mum to Louis, now 13, and Laila, now 11, while Randall has 29-year-old daughter Skylar.
