Lionel Messi Leads Inter Miami to Leagues Cup Victory Over Nashville FC
Fitting right in after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and joining the MLS‘ Inter Miami team, Lionel Messi recently led his new squad to Leagues Cup victory over Nashville FC recently. Despite scoring the first goal in the 23rd minute, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were met by the competitive team from Nashville that tied the game 1-1, forcing penalties that ended in 10-9 sudden death for Miami.
Capturing the Leagues Cup, the club’s first trophy, Lionel Messi has turned Inter Miami around since joining in June. Inter Miami has remained undefeated with a club record seven straight matches during the annual tournament between the MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX. With the victory, Inter Miami is now qualified for the 2024 Concacaf Champions League Round of 16.
It is interesting to note, the latest League Cup trophy stands as Messi’s 44th trophy of his storied career.
