My boyfriend asked to see other people – why am I not enough for him? | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN my boyfriend suggested we should be more open in our relationship and see other people, my heart dropped.

None of it makes any sense and I can’t understand where he’s got this idea from.

I’m a man of 27 and my partner is 26.

We have been together for just over four years.

Since the day we met, we’ve been besotted with each other and I’ve never had a doubt in my mind that he’s the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Until now he had never expressed any interest in an open relationship, and I had no clue this was something he wanted.

It’s broken my heart knowing he wants to see and sleep with other people.

We have always had such intense and experimental sex, so I can’t understand why he wants this. Am I not enough?

DEIDRE SAYS: Just because he brought up an open relationship doesn’t mean  you are not enough for him. It may be that he wants to keep things fluid while you prefer monogamy.

It is important you are completely honest about your feelings. If this isn’t what you want, you need to be clear about that.

If he’s the right person for you, he will be prepared to forgo the open relationship.

But if you  want different things, unfortunately it won’t work in the long-term and you may have to move on.
