A Place in the Suns Jonnie Irwin worries fans with pretty unwell update

A Place in the Sun star Jonnie Irwin has worried fans after revealing he is feeling "pretty unwell" in his latest health update.

Father-of-three Jonnie revealed in November last year that he could have just months to live after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer two years earlier, which had spread to his brain.

A series of recent upbeat Instagram posts by the 49-year-old offered hope the presenter was in a good place, but sadly now things appear to have taken a turn for the worse.

For Jonnie admitted the last seven days have been tough – despite attempting to cheer himself up with a family trip to a monster truck event.

Sharing a snap with one of his sons on his shoulders, he told his 216,000 followers: "Been pretty unwell this past week but felt better this morning so headed off to watch some Monster trucks.

"Kids loved it, got soaked in the rain, quick change when we got home to go again at a Christening party. Full on Sunday."

A second pic, meanwhile, showed Jonnie and his devoted wife, Jessica, sharing a loving embrace indoors.

Fans soon flocked to the comments section to wish the Channel 4 star well, with one commenting: "Lovely photos of you all you're certainly cramming in every minute … so sorry to hear of you feel not too good but your zest for living helps you to be were you are… still with your lovely family. Stay strong Johnnie and keep that fighting spirit."

Another wrote: "You are a great couple, always putting your kids before yourselves!!! Sorry you have had such a bad week Jonnie!!! I hope you get some rest tomorrow!!!"

A third added: "Sorry you’ve been poorly this week @jonnieirwintv. You’re looking so well too! Think of you regularly and wishing you well always. Enjoy those precious family times."

And a fourth said: "You are doing amazing Jonnie and are such an inspiration. My father is going through the same scenario and just following your journey is helping us to understand much of what you and your family are going through."

Jonnie recently opened up about a big regret amid his terminal cancer fight, saying he wants people to learn from his "mistake".

Speaking on AIG Life’s The OneChat podcast, Jonnie said he wanted to leave a "positive footprint" in the world as he talked about what he wished he'd done different.

"I want people to learn from my mistake," he said. "I didn’t take critical illness insurance out and therefore I had to keep working. Without work, I’ve got no means of paying the bills."

He added: "I could have had two years of living a more open lifestyle."
