APITS Jonnie Irwin celebrates milestone he never thought hed reach
A Place In The Sun star Jonnie Irwin has celebrated another milestone in his battle with terminal cancer, which has seen the disease spread from his lungs to his brain.
The presenter was given just six months to live in 2021, but he continues to defy medics despite a bumpy ride over the last couple of years. The last month has proven no different, with Jonnie hospitalised last week with a worrying case of jaundice.
The admission came just days before the star was due to jet to Costa del Sol with his wife Jessica Holmes and their sons, Rex, four, and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac. Thankfully he made a swift recovery, however, and was able to travel to Spain to celebrate his 50th birthday as planned on Saturday (November 18).

It proved a far cry from five days earlier, in which Jonnie penned from his hospital bedside: "Back in hospital – been in since Friday with Jaundice. I had a fever and acute stabbing pain in my right hand side. Turns out I probably had an infection and otter issues which I won’t bore you with.
"Been on drips, regular bloods taken and have observations every 4 ours through day and night. Didn’t think I’d be watching @bbcmorninglive from a hospital bed but it’s just part of the roller coaster life that this illness throws at you I must admit I was especially touched by the birthday message from the the team for my birthday this coming Friday- thanks very much. X. I have another scan today followed by a meeting with my oncologist so fingers crossed for positive news."
