EastEnders fans upset as BBC cancel show in shake-up
EastEnders fans are unhappy as the soap has a schedule shake-up this week.
Instead of airing four half-hour episodes Monday to Thursday, the BBC soap will be on for an hour on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
The episodes will be split into two separate half-hour episodes and air at 7pm instead of the usual 7:30pm slot.
However, for viewers who still want their daily EastEnders fix, they can watch one of the episodes each day on the BBC iPlayer.
The BBC will be continuing with the uploads on the streaming platform between Monday and Thursday for this week – allowing viewers at home to watch the programme whenever it suits them.
These changes are due to the BBC airing coverage of the World Athletics on BBC One.
However, fans of the show are not happy with the change, which comes just weeks after it was impacted by football coverage.
Commenting on the show's Facebook post about the changes, one person said: "Why is it when there is a sporting event, Eastenders schedule has to change?
"Not everyone is interested in watching sports no matter how much you continue to force it on us!"
While someone else commented: " *folds arms* no episode tonight. Raging."
This person added: "Bloody sport! Why can't they put all sport on bbc2."
Tagging a friend in the post, this fan said: "Day ruined."
After finding out why the schedule has been changed, this avid viewer wrote: "Gutted, first football spoils Eastenders now Athletics."
"FORRRRRR GODDDDD SAKEEEEEE" posted another fan.
It is a big week on the Square the return of Cindy Beale edges closer.
Last week Cindy's daughter Anna Knight was given her number, and heading into this weeks episodes, how and why Cindy returns becomes clearer.
Anna is determined to find her mum and get to know her, but what she doesn't know is that her mum Rose Knight is actually Cindy Beale.
Cindy was called Rose for 25 years while she was under witness protection, but in June, it was revealed that the protection has come to an end.
She has been living in France with Ian and Peter Beale, but as Peter heads back to Walford this week, Cindy isn't far behind him.
There is also drama for Eve Unwin after she went off the rails last week and was kicked out by Stacey Slater.
Alfie Moon's cancer battle also continues this week as Phil Mitchell tries to support his struggling friend.
