EastEnders favourite faces drugs battle in 'controversial' new storyline
There are more turbulent times ahead for long-suffering Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), as the EastEnders widower will turn to ketamine use amid his grief for his lost love.
The popular character has had a difficult few months following the heartbreaking death of wife Lola Pearce earlier this year.
Since his loss, he has found himself struggling to sleep, instead going for long walks in the middle of the night.
It was on his way back from one of these walks that he met Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix) – a woman who bore a striking resemblance to late wife Lola.
He later discovered that Nadine was working as an escort, and was temporarily put off pursuing any kind of relationship with her.
However, when the pair crossed paths again, they sat down for a drink where Nadine explained that it was just a job to get her through university, and that she had much bigger plans for the future.

As the pair bonded, Jay went back to Nadine’s flat and ended up staying the night, with Nadine promising that it would all be above board.
Following that night, Jay returned to Nadine again, this time bringing a bottle of Lola’s perfume with him for her to wear.
Their relationship is set to become more complicated in the coming weeks when the lethal party drug ketamine is thrown into the mix.
Speaking to The Sun about the hard-hitting storyline, a source said: ‘It’s a controversial storyline, bringing ketamine into millions of homes up and down the country.
‘But the important messages here involving the dangers of hard drugs. Dabbling with ketamine proves a serious wake-up call to Jay. Viewers will be on the edge their seats.’
Is Jay set to develop a serious addiction, or will he be able to resist temptation?
