Former Strictly pro slams judges' 'off the chart wrong' scoring saying it's an 'injustice' | The Sun

A FORMER professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing has hit out at judges for how they are scoring candidates this season.

Brendan Cole voiced his opinion on the critiques judges have been dishing out in the dance competition this year, calling them "off the chart wrong".

At the Pride of Britain Awards the pro ballroom dancer went as far as to say he feels like he's been watching a completely different show than the judges.

The 47-year-old told the Mirror: "I think they are off the chart wrong. The way the judges are performing at the moment, I think I'm watching two different shows."

He added that he thought they have been scoring bad performances highly at times, which he labelled an "injustice".

He continued: "For me you have to be critical, you have to be encouraging.

"Also if somebody does a bad number, you can't just give it a high mark and go 'well I loved it, it was beautiful,' because ultimately if you give somebody a high number and somebody else goes home over them by you giving them a lower number, just with the way the maths works out, you're doing an injustice to the show.

"So I've got a lot of critique for the judges, but I don't think it really matters."

The Dancing On Ice star also disagreed with 10s being handed out in the first three weeks of the show – but believes the cast this year are very talented.

"I've never been a fan of a 10 unless I got one myself," he joked. "It's one of those things. Everything can always be better but I think the standard is high.

"You have got contestants in there that if you look at Layton Williams for example, he's a phenomenal performer in his own right without Strictly so what he can do is incredible.

"Then you've got the people that you don't necessarily expect to be amazing and they're really coming through, and then you've got the ones that are slightly less able. I think Strictly needs the range of people to make it work."

Brendan has also previously said that his bad boy persona on Strictly was a narrative being pushed by BBC bosses.

He was known for being fiercely competitive and pushing his Strictly dance partners to their limits, but he insists a lot of that was editing.
