Richard Hammond gives update on Chris Evans skin cancer diagnosis
Good Morning Britain: Kate Garraway 'excuse me'
Former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond gave an update on Chris Evans’ skin cancer diagnosis and claimed his friend and DJ was still “bonkers”.
Richard joined Good Morning Britain presenters Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins live from the CarFest event in Cheshire and Hampshire.
The event was created by Chris to help raise funds for UK Children’s Charities and is the largest family fundraising festival in the UK.
After discussing what Richard was contributing to the festival, Adil asked: “We all heard him [Chris] announce recently his skin cancer diagnosis.
“You have been friends for quite some time, how is he doing?”

Smiling, Richard explained: “He’s good, he’s fine, I saw him last night along with a load of other people.
“It was found really early that is the main thing and well, he is Chris isn’t he, he’s still flat out and completely bonkers.
“He is also very excited as is the whole team here, this thing raises millions for children in need, loads of hospices, cancer charities, and a lot of children’s charities.”
Chris announced the news of his diagnosis during his Virgin Radio show on Monday, 21 August and said: “I’ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue.

“So the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.
“Obviously better news would have been [that it was] negative. But the reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible.
“It’s as treatable as cancer can be to the extent that they call it ‘stage zero’ I can’t run for a month afterwards so I’m going to do nothing but run until then.”
He added: “Just check yourself for stuff, as you get older especially, on your skin, on your bits and your bobs.
“Just keep checking because the biggest weapon in your arsenal, in our collective arsenal… is early detection. And so please do that.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
