Rick and Morty fans fuming over new voice actors after Justin Roiland replaced
Rick and Morty returns in season seven trailer
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Rick and Morty.
Rick and Morty co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland’s replacements have made their debut and fans are fuming with the change.
The Adult Swim and E4 animated comedy returned for season seven this week in the US and UK, just over a year after its sixth outing had debuted.
Usually, the plots and gags of each episode are the show’s biggest talking points but, this time, it’s what’s going on behind the scenes that is getting fans’ reactions.
Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith are now voiced by Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden respectively, after they were previously both performed by Roiland for six series.
Upon hearing the voiceover actors for the first time, viewers couldn’t help but take to X, formerly Twitter, to express their upset.

One fan commented: “Rick and Morty’s voices sound so weird”, whereas another wrote: “The new Rick and Morty voices are trash.”
A third added: “I tried to not hear the voice difference in the new season of Ricky and Morty but mannn it’s hard not to. Mr PB sounded horrible”.
An Adult Swim insider told The Hollywood Reporter: “We want the show to speak for itself.
“’We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.”

Rick and Morty will be back for season 7 on Adult Swim[UPDATE]
Rick and Morty season 6 won’t be returning for several weeks[DELAY]
Rick and Morty has been airing for six seasons on Cartoon Network as part of its Adult Swim evening viewing, with Roiland and Dan Harmon behind its creation.
But the network cut ties with Roiland back in January when domestic abuse charges against him, which he was cleared of in March, were reported, stating the roles would be recast.
Companies 20th TV Animation and Hulu Originals, which produced two other animated series of Roiland’s, also took a step back from the star.
Prosecutors in Orange County, California, dropped the charges with district attorney spokeswoman Kimberly Edds clarifying the two felony counts involving an ex-girlfriend were dropped “due to a lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt”.

Responding to the dismissal at the time on X, Roiland wrote: “I have always known that these claims were false – and I never had any doubt that this day would come.
“I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.”
He added how he was “disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts, based solely on the word of a bitter ex trying to bypass due process and have me ‘canceled’.”
Nevertheless, he’s remained “determined to move forward and focus both on my creative projects and restoring my good name.”
Rick and Morty season seven continues every Sunday on Adult Swim in the US and every Tuesday on E4 in the UK.
