“I think the point was they went to church the following morning. They came outside of the castle to see the flower arrangements but it would have been really difficult.”
Koenig reiterated: “I’ve never heard that. It was kind of difficult.”
She added: “[Prince William] has talked about how his family kept them away from it in the beginning and the same about the walking [behind the coffin].”
Addressing the coffin and the princes walking behind Diana’s body in the funeral procession, Koenig said it would have been a “family discussion” between all of them.

Koenig continued: “Both confirmed by Harry and William when talked about it by both of them.
“It was difficult but the family talked about it and talked about it with them.
“Of course, Philip had said, ‘If I walk, you walk with me.’ But it was not one person making the decision, it was definitely a family decision.”
Although the young princes would have felt pressure to do the walk, Koenig said their father, grandfather and their uncle were with them. “It was not as if they were walking alone,” she said.
She recalled: “There were times where you saw Charles put his arm on one of this sons, so they were there for them.
“It’s not as if they weren’t and the boys didn’t say no. But I also think at that age they felt the pressure that they should do it, even though they wouldn’t know what it would feel like – because they had the support of the family.”
