Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Following The Late Princess Diana's Footsteps — And Not In a Good Way

Although she has been gone for 22 years now, no one has forgotten Princess Diana. She left an amazing legacy behind after her untimely and tragic death, and everyone will be forever grateful for the millions of lives that she touched around the world.

Princess Diana was quite arguably one of the most popular members ever in the royal family. Behind closed doors; however, her life was anything but easy. The Princess of Wales struggled with many issues, and even though she handled it better than anyone ever could have expected, it still affected her life.

In the past few years, it is pretty safe to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s popularity has increased tremendously. After they announced they were in a serious relationship, it was as if fans just couldn’t get enough. Almost overnight, Markle became one of the most famous women in the entire world. And, as always, royal fans just adore Prince Harry for everything that he does.

Throughout their relationship, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have quietly honored Princess Diana in many different ways. However, it can be said that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are following in the late princess’ footsteps — and not in a good way.

Princess Diana was one of the most sought-after women in the world

After marrying into the royal family, it is pretty safe to say that Princess Diana‘s life changed dramatically. She couldn’t so much as step outside without dozens of flashbulbs going off, and everywhere she went, she was chased by swarms of photographers and fans.

According to Zoomer, Princess Diana’s fame and popularity were through the roof for a number of years. Fans were diligently copying her fashion choices, her hairstyles, and lining up by the thousands whenever she made an appearance.

Meghan Marke and Prince Harry are living a similar life to Princess Diana

Although Markle and Princess Diana never had the chance to meet, the duchess and Prince Harry are living a life that isn’t quite different from Princess Diana. It was during the Sussexes engagement interview that Prince Harry said that his mother and Markle would have been “thick as thieves.”

10Daily reports that there are many striking similarities between the Sussexes and the late princess, including their devotion to charity and humanitarian work, their compassion toward others, and efforts to bring positive things to the world. Duchess Meghan and Princess Diana’s lives are even similar in the sense that they didn’t exactly have an easy start when they married into the royal family. They both went from having privacy and living their lives in a quiet way, to having everything that they say and do become headline news and the main focus of the news media.

How are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following in Princess Diana’s footsteps?

So, how are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following in Diana’s footsteps, yet not in a good way? NBC News reports that the answer is actually quite simple: It is because of the excessive media attention that they are receiving on a regular basis.

According to Think, the couple is facing the same danger that Princess Diana did, and as we know, all of the attention ultimately cost Princess Diana her life. Lately, it seems that Markle and Prince Harry’s life is an open book, with the news media reporting on and commenting about every decision that they make.

In the early stages of the couple’s relationship, the media frenzy got so bad that Prince Harry was forced to issue a public statement asking them to back off since he was concerned for Markle’s safety. Over the last few years, the Sussexes have voiced their desire for privacy and quiet life. Just like Princess Diana, they hope to raise their son with some degree of normalcy, giving him life away from the cameras and out of the public eye, and they want privacy for themselves as well.

Demi & Kristian’s Proposal On ‘Paradise’ Made Bachelor Nation History

Spoilers for the Bachelor in Paradise finale ahead. Demi and Kristian made Bachelor Nation history by being the first LGBTQ couple of the franchise. And they are continuing to break boundaries after Demi proposed to Kristian on Bachelor in Paradise. In the Season 6 finale, Demi let go of the reservations she previously had by asking Kristian to marry her, and given that LGBTQ marriage just became legal in the U.S. in 2015, Kristian and Demi taking this formal step to commit to one another is still pretty major.

Out of the four couples left on Paradise, Demi and Kristian had an advantage in some ways since they dated before they came on the show. But they’ve had to navigate major relationship issues just like everyone else on the beach — all while grappling with being in the public eye. Especially Demi, who talked at length in the final weeks about still feeling insecure about dating openly as bisexual and her hesitation to show PDA toward Kristian. Yet, their sincere and open dialogue about these problems has only made them stronger, as displayed by Demi and Kristian’s engagement in the Bachelor in Paradise Season 6 finale.

Ahead of the proposal, Demi expressed feelings of self-doubt while Kristian feared they weren’t on the same page. Yet, all of that went away when they came on the beach to proclaim their love for one another. "Demi, I’m in love with you and I give you my full heart and I promise to protect yours now and forever," Kristian told her. Demi responded by saying, "I came here to find myself, but I found myself in you. I love you so much and I’m so in love with you and I didn’t even think it was possible to feel this way about someone."

Demi then got on one knee and proposed to Kristian, who accepted and joined her on the ground. The other engaged couples — Katie and Chris and Hannah and Dylan — cheered for them and came on the beach to celebrate, proving yet again how joyful Demi and Kristian’s relationship is. Now, as Kristian pointed out, the only thing missing is that Demi doesn’t have her own engagement ring.

Climber Is 'Happy to Be Alive' After Falling Down Crevasse During Mount Rainier Descent

Graham Parrington

One mountain climber is feeling fortunate to have survived a terrifying fall down a crevasse on Mount Rainier in Washington State.

Now, Graham Parrington is opening up about the ordeal, which happened in August, WECT News reported on Tuesday.

In an interview with Seattle station Komo News, Parrington explained that his fall occurred on the team’s descent, after he and fellow climbers Christopher Poulos and Reid Ammann had already summited and passed “all the major rock fall and major ice fall areas” and reached Ingraham Flats at 11,000 feet.

“We were feeling maybe a little bit too pleased with ourselves,” Parrington told the outlet, when “all of a sudden I fell through into a crevasse that we couldn’t see, and I smashed through some layers of snow that was melting, and then the next thing you know it,  I’m hanging in a crevasse. Dangling on a rope, yeah, 30 feet down.”

A crevasse is a deep crack in a glacier, and Mt. Ranier — which lies about three hours southeast of Seattle — is the “most heavily glaciated peak in the contiguous United States,” according to the National Park Service. The active volcano is 14,410 feet tall.

Parrington said that he “was pretty happy once I realized I was unhurt, and not dead.” He even had a chance to snap a selfie before making the difficult climb out of the crevasse.

But that doesn’t mean it was easy to be stuck down there — the climber told CNN, “It’s like being in a ice shower down there. The glacier is melting on you.”

Meanwhile, Poulos and Ammann were peering in to see if their teammate was okay, WCET reported. CNN reported that another group of climbers found them and helped Parrington’s teammates adjust the rope to that he wasn’t forced to climb through rotten snow.

That was when Parrington began to start a grueling 45-minute climb up the rope to safety, he told Komo News.

Parrington explained that to self-rescue, climbers actually want to avoid going hand-over-fist up the rope — “because if you make a mistake, then you fall and you shock-load the rope.”

Instead, “you ascend the rope with friction knots or ascending devices,” he explained, saying that that’s exactly what he did.

“I got my system set up, I had loops around my feet, and clipped my backpack below me on the rope to put tension on it, and started inching my way up the rope,” he continued.

Parrington said that his extensive training and practice for emergency situations just like this one was key in his survival.

“Once I was okay, I knew what I needed to do because I’ve repelled into a crevasse before for training,” he said. “And I’d practiced all the stuff many times before, and I knew exactly what I needed to do. So for me it was just, happy to be alive and now I just need to execute the plan.”

Parrington said that the park ranger back at base camp was “flabbergasted” at his story of survival — and told him he was so lucky that he should “go buy a lottery ticket.”

“I still need to do that,” he said with a laugh.

Why Carly & Evan Are The True Champs Of ‘Bachelor In Paradise’

Bachelor in Paradise couples don’t always work out for the better. In fact, more often than not it can end in heartache. However, there are a few matchups that end up becoming long-term love stories and serve as an example future duos hope to aspire to. Carly Waddell and Evan Bass are one such example and indicate that they’re a Paradise success story for the ages. In fact, updates about Carly and Evan prove that these two have never been stronger and may make even the biggest Paradise skeptics start to believe that this process can actually work.

Carly and Evan first met during the third season of Bachelor in Paradise, which filmed and aired back in 2016. And while their relationship started out a little rocky (as many romances on this show tend to do), they were able to emerge from the season completely in love and engaged. They got married a year later in Mexico on the very same beach that they first met and shortly afterward they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Bella. (Evan also has three older sons from a previous relationship.) However, they aren’t quite done adding to their adorable family. Back in May, the duo announced that Bella would be getting a little sister or brother sometime in November with what is quite possibly the cutest Instagram post to ever exist.

“Beer Belly, Bella Belly, BABY BELLY!!!” Carly captioned the announcement post, which shows Evan, Bella, and Carly all showing off their bellies. “We so SO EXCITED to FINALLY announce Bella’s little brother or sister will be here in November!!!” The shocked look on Bella’s face in the photo is almost too precious for words. (Seriously, how cute is this kid?!) And the pure joy radiating from the image is proof enough that these BiP alums are doing just fine and completely happy with the life that they are building together. Though, during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, both Carly and Evan admitted that they aren’t planning to have more children after this newest addition to the family is born.

"Pregnancy is really hard," Carly explained to the outlet about why they want their second kid together to be their last. "I feel fine now that I’m, like, almost over the hump, but I’m bad that first trimester. I’m just so sick." That’s certainly understandable and something that Evan is fully supportive about, though he does plan on pulling out all the stops for their new baby while he can. "I feel like since it’s our last baby — I need to do the baby some, like, serious justice with a gender reveal and make it epic and massive and ridiculous," Evan shared during the same ET interview. "So I’m waiting on some permits and some permissions. It’s not going to be filmed, I just want to do something epic." (Carly admitted that she already knows the baby’s gender, but is keeping that tidbit to herself for now.)

Along with their growing family, Carly and Evan also remain close friends with several other members of the Bachelor franchise. Carly and Jade Roper are particularly close and co-host a podcast together called Mommies Tell All.

Needless to say, 2019 is proving to be another amazing year for these Paradise alums. Let’s hope that some of the Season 6 couples can go on to have the happily ever after story that Carly and Evan were able to find.

Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Hustlers’ costume designer says skimpy opening outfit could fit entirely in his fist

‘Hustlers’ star Jennifer Lopez admits she was scared to dance nearly naked for ‘300 extras hooting and hollering’

Bumps and bruises don’t scare ‘Hustlers’ star Jennifer Lopez. But dancing nearly naked for ‘300 extras hooting and hollering’ did.

Viewers may not have realized it, but there was a lot of thought that went into the design of Jennifer Lopez’s costumes in “Hustlers” — even though there wasn’t exactly much costume to design.

Mitchell Travers, who was in charge of costuming for the film, recently spoke with Vanity Fair about the surprising challenges he faced when designing the barely-there outfits Lopez’s character Ramona dons throughout the film — and especially in the first dance sequence.

“I knew it [had] to absolutely floor the audience, and let them know that this is not going to be like any movie that they’ve seen before,” Travers told Vanity Fair.

Lopez’s character had to "floor the audience" right out of the gate, according to costume designer Mitchell Travers, who told Vanity Fair that the costuming was a big part of the equation.

Ramona’s debut scene, during which the audience first sees her performing on stage, required Lopez, 50, to wear a bodysuit so tiny that Travers said he could ball the whole thing up and fit it in his fist. The sewing for the outfit had to be completed on Lopez to ensure that it would stretch and move with the actress, he said, adding that it was “tailored to within an inch of its life."

Upon first showing the design to Lopez, Travers said he was nervous she’d disapprove of the super-skimpy style, but he explained that he felt it was the right outfit to showcase her physique.

“I held it up, and I said, ‘I know that this is crazy, but I really believe in this.’ And she said, ‘Let’s go. I think I do too.’” Travers told Vanity Fair.

The designer also added that, when compiling costume ideas for the film, he looked to celebrities who were fashion icons back in 2007 — when the film takes place — and, naturally, Lopez’s picture kept popping up.

Travers said he was inspired by looking at photos of celebrities and their outfits circa 2007 — when the film largely takes place — and, of course, Lopez’s 2007 fashions were among those he studied.

Even still, Lopez had said earlier this month that she found it “really scary” having to perform “practically naked” during the striptease scenes. Speaking with Evening Standard magazine, she admitted she also kind of enjoyed the process, which required her to perform in front of hundreds of extras.

“There’s something liberating and empowering about it,” she said, “but you’re really out there, physically, emotionally and psychologically.”

“Hustlers,” starring Lopez, Constance Wu and Julia Stiles, earned more than $33 million on its opening weekend, reported Variety. The film is loosely based on a 2015 New York Magazine article by Jessica Pressler.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share quote about ‘compassion’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share inspirational quote about ‘compassion’ by the Dalai Lama – after weathering storm of controversy over their private jet use

  • Royal Sussex Instagram account shared an inspirational quote by Dalai Lama
  • The centre message focused on compassion being the ‘key’ to a ‘happier’ world
  • It comes after Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 34, faced recent backlash

Meghan Markle has shared an inspirational quote about compassion by the Dalai Lama – just weeks after recent controversies.

In a post shared by the Sussex Royal Instagram account, the quote reads: ‘I believe that at every level of society – familial, tribal, national and international – the key to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion.’

The message, which was presented on a navy blue background with the couple’s joint monogram, comes shortly after the Duchess, 38, and husband Prince Harry, 34, were embroiled in a hypocrisy row after taking four private jets in just 11 days.

They flew to Ibiza by private jet on August 6 for a six-night break for Meghan’s 38th birthday, and days later flew to Nice on a £15million Cessna plane described as the ‘pinnacle of luxury’.

Meghan Markle, 38, has shared inspirational quote on Sussex Royal account. Pictured, The Duchess of Sussex launches the Smart Works capsule collection at John Lewis in Oxford Street, London on Thursday September 12

The quote (pictured), by the Dalai Lama,  focuses on the importance of compassion for a happier and more successful world

The social media post went on to explain that the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is a spiritual leader and a man of peace (pictured)

The couple visited the £15million palatial home of Castel Mont-Alban, owned by Sir Elton John, 72, and his husband David Furnish.

Sir Elton revealed he paid for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to fly to and from his Nice mansion by private jet for a holiday ‘inside the safety and tranquillity of our home’.

He claimed he ensured Prince Harry and Meghan’s flights to and from the French Riviera were carbon neutral by making the ‘appropriate contribution’ to a carbon footprint fund.

Alongside the quote shared an hour ago, which has since been liked over 26k times, the royals explained that the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is a spiritual leader and a man of peace.

Pictured, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrive to attend the European Premiere of Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on July 14, 2019 in London

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced recent criticism after taking four private jets in just 11 days – despite preaching about the environment

It reads: ‘Through this approach he has received over 150 awards, honorary doctorates, and prizes in recognition of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion.’

And many of the couple’s social media followers praised the refreshing quote for being ‘beautiful’ and ‘100% true.’

Another penned: ‘So true it should be with compassion that we lead our lives every day,’ while a further agreed: ‘What we need most in this world is love, compassion and peace! Blessings to you and family.’

The quote appeared to go down better with the public than last month’s ‘hypocritical’ message, which urged people to ‘do your little bit of good’.

In that Instagram post, they shared a quote from Archbishop Desmond Tutu which read: ‘Do YOUR little bit of GOOD where YOU ARE; it’s THOSE LITTLE BITS of good put TOGETHER that OVERWHELM the WORLD.’

Within five minutes of the post going live, a disgruntled follower commented: ‘How about you do your little bit of good and stop taking flights on private jets?’

It didn’t take long for others to pile in on the debate, with one writing: ‘How about less gas guzzling air travel!!!’

The post received an abundance of positive comments from social media followers who praised the couple for sharing the quote

Paulina Porizkova says she’s ‘utterly devastated’ by ex Ric Ocasek’s sudden death

Paulina Porizkova, her two sons with Ric Ocasek and their close friends are “utterly devastated” by his sudden death this weekend, the model said in a statement Monday.

Ocasek was married to the supermodel for 28 years, welcoming two children in the process, before announcing their split in 2018.

After news broke late Sunday that The Cars lead singer had died at the age of 75, Porizkova spoke out Monday afternoon, thanking friends and family for the outpouring of love they have received in recent hours.

Porizkova first posted a photo of flowers placed at the couple’s former home with the caption, “Thank you.”

She later added a lengthy statement from the family, adding that at the time of his death Ocasek was recovering “after surgery.”

“Our two sons, Jonathan and Oliver, and I were making sure he was comfortable, ordering food and watching TV together,” she added. “I found him asleep when bringing him his Sunday morning coffee. I touched his cheek to rouse him. It was then I realized that during the night he had peacefully passed on.”

Porizkova thanked everyone again for the “outpouring of love” and added that, “We, his family and friends, are completely and utterly devastated by his untimely and unexpected death.”

Ocasek, who was inducted with the band into the Roll Hall of Fame last year, was found at his home in New York City Sunday afternoon, local police told ABC News.

Though the surgery he was having and a cause of death have not yet been determined, the New York City medical examiner said he died of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with emphysema as a contributing factor.

Porizkova revealed she and her husband had split on social media last year, writing, “Our family has always has been — and still is — a well-built car. When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So, we’re ditching the bicycle.”

She added, “Rick and I have been peacefully separated for the past year. The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple …The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it’s practically tangible, and that sort of love can never disappear.”

4 Dating Behaviors That Mean Someone Is Trying To Cuff, So Get Ready To Cuddle

Bust out the fall brews and fire up your dating apps, fam — because cuffing season is nearly in full swing. That means you could be just one swipe away from having a seasonal partner-in-crime. Some may scoff at the idea of finding a temporary bae, while others are grateful to lock down a little lovin’ for the colder months. But whether you’re in the former or the latter category, know this: there are dating behaviors that mean someone is trying to cuff. And it’s obviously useful to know these signs so that you can assess whether you and your crush are on the same page.

But let’s take a step back and review what all this cuffing business is about, shall we? The term refers to a time of year between October and February when people are more likely to pursue dates and relationships. It makes sense why this phenomenon happens during the fall and winter — after all, having a cold-weather boo means you have someone to chill with when you’re too lazy to go out, and a guaranteed date to all those holiday parties. According to matchmaker and CEO of Exclusive Matchmaking Susan Trombetti, cuffing someone typically falls somewhere in between a casual hookup situation and a serious long-term relationship. In other words, you’ll still post cute photos of your apple picking date on the ‘gram, but you likely won’t be securing plans to go to a wedding together next summer.

Wondering where your date stands? Here are some signs that they’re seeking a snuggle partner for the colder season (and potentially beyond).

They’re not super concerned with long-term compatibility.

According to Trombetti, if someone is looking to cuff, they may be thinking more about the present than the distant future. As such, you may find that you have a blast on your dates, but may not actually be compatible enough to go the distance. If they don’t seem concerned with the fact that you have mismatched values or goals for the future, then they may just be trying to cuff for the colder season.

They say some people come into your life for different reasons and seasons,” says Trombetti. “With cuffing, it’s no different, and it’s for two seasons only: fall and winter.”

That’s not to say that a cuffing season relationship definitely can’t last, however. In fact, a 2018 Elite Daily study of 119 people between the ages of 18 and 38 found that more than half of participants’ cuffed relationships lasted for a year or more.

They proactively make regular plans to hang — but they haven’t tried to define the relationship.

A cuffing relationship can feel a bit like a limbo between casual and serious. You’ll likely have regular dates — say, on a weekly basis. But at the same time, your potential boo might not be making moves to put a label on things or introduce you to their family just yet.

As Trombetti puts it, you’ll likely start to feel an increasing level of comfort and contentment with someone who’s trying to cuff you, especially because you’ll likely get the feeling (or they’ll flat out tell you) that they’re not seeing anyone else.

Your dates mainly consist of hibernation.

Real talk. How many of your recent dates have involved your couch, a bottle of wine, and a movie? According to Trombetti, if you’re frequently ordering takeout and binge-watching Netflix together on a Friday night (or a Sunday or Monday night), that could mean that you’re being primed for cuffing.

“It feels relaxed with no pressure,” she adds. “After all curling up on the couch with someone is cozy and romantic. Who says they have to be ‘The One’?”

They hint — or flat out tell you — that they’re itching to cuff.

If your new boo says things like, “I hate being single on New Years,” or “I’m so relieved they have a date for my office Christmas party,” those are subtle hints that they’re gearing up to cuff. They might casually mention that they just re-downloaded their dating apps after summer ended. Or, they may be more direct and straight-up tell you what they’re looking for.

“Your cuffing partner might just come out and say that this is what they want,” explains Trombetti. “There is nothing wrong with this, and there are all sorts of relationships nowadays. Not everything is about the finish line.”

Now that you’ve caught on to your date’s intentions, it’s time to figure out whether you’re down to cuff. Remember: What starts out as a seasonal fling can very easily transition into something more serious — if both people are open to it. If that’s what you’re ultimately hoping for, it’s a good idea to maintain open communication with your partner to ensure you’re on the same page. Bottom line? There’s nothing wrong with pursuing a season-long cuddle partner — and provided you have the same romantic goals, there’s no reason why it can’t survive past February. In the meantime, it’s all about taking full advantage of the many cuffing perks — like posting the hell out of your couples Halloween costumes, going on a romantic ice skating date, or sipping cocoa from the comfort of your own abode.

Best things about growing old are looking after grandchildren and travelling

Looking after your grandchildren, having more time for travel and being less stressed are among the best things about growing old, according to research.

The over-60s agreed having more time to spend with their loved ones is a highlight of getting older after working hard in their younger years to take care of their family.

Playing games with grandchildren, teaching them new skills and simply being able to live spontaneously also featured in the top 20 things about growing old.

More than two fifths even went as far as to say they enjoy themselves much more now than they did in their younger years.

Retiring from work, not caring what people think and being able to take up new hobbies are also considered to be positives about ageing, while a third enjoy being able to read with their grandchildren.

The study, of 1,600 adults aged over 60, by Stannah also found 45 per cent of doting grandparents get to spend more time with their grandchildren now than they did with their own children when they were the same age.

One in six even said they are emotionally closer to their grandchildren than their own children.

Patrick Stannah, MD of Stannah, said: "Having more time for yourself is such a valuable thing once you retire.

"But what's even more exciting is being able to reconnect with your family – especially with your grandchildren.

"Our second Silver Census found over-60s look forward to spending time with their children's children, whether it's taking them on outings or reading together.

"It is heart-warming to see such strong inter-generational links blossoming around both traditional activities as well modern communications channels."

The study also found grandparents are living nearby to their young relatives, with nearly half (44 per cent) located five miles or less from them.

And seven in 10 reckon they have more free time to spend with their grandchildren because they work less now, or not at all, compared to how much they worked when their own kids were growing up.

The research also found the convenience of modern life means 96 per cent will keep in touch with family and friends, with text messages and emails common ways to stay connected.
