Liam Paynes girlfriend issues health update after hospital dash amid crippling pain

Liam Payne is reportedly back at home in the UK after being rushed to hospital with agonising pain on a trip to Italy with his girlfriend.

The One Direction star, 30, was was underdoing urgent tests just weeks after being forced to cancel his South American tour because of a "serious kidney infection".

Offering an update on his condition on TikTok, American influencer Kate Cassidy said, " "He is doing so much better. He is out of the hospital and he is in good hands."

A source also told The Sun that Liam was "back home in England" after receiving round-the-clock medical care in Italy.

The source told the newspaper that doting Kate stayed out in Lake Como while Liam was getting his medical care, meaning the pair could fly back to the UK together.

"Initially it would have been this month he made his musical comeback but right now all focus is on his health," they said. "That is the priority."

OK! approached representatives for Liam for comment.

The Strip That Down hitmaker announced a few weeks before his trip that he was under strict doctor's orders to rest and recover after his kidney infection, forcing him to cancel his upcoming performances in South America.

Posting a video with the news to his Instagram page, Liam said, “I ended up in hospital with a bad kidney infection.

“I’ve got the best people around me at home trying to help me recover… but we’re going to have to reschedule the tour.” He added that the pain was “something I wouldn’t wish on anyone”.

His latest health woes came after tattooed Liam shared the news he'd spent 100 days in a strict American rehabilitation centre earlier this year – with no contact with the outside world.

Announcing in July he was six months' sober, Liam explained he'd become someone he "didn't really recognise anymore" before checking himself in to the centre.

"I was in bad shape up until that point and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work," he told fans.

He also thanked his ex girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy, who is mum to his six-year-old son Bear, for supporting him while he disconnected from life outside the rehab.

Following his latest dash to hospital, a source told OK!Cheryl wanted to support Liam to become the best dad he could be.

The couple got together in 2016 but split up in summer 2018, a year after Bear was born.
