Susanna Reid was quick to call for calm on Tuesday when Andrew Pierce made a chilling remark about Russell Brand.

GB News star Pierce, 62, appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss his clash with co-anchor Beverley Turner.

Pierce and 49-year-old Turner butt heads over the shocking abuse allegations currently facing Russell Brand.

On Saturday, the actor and comedian, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assault and physical abuse, in a Channel 4 special episode of Dispatches airing in a joint investigation with The Times.

Brand has insisted his relationships have all been consensual and denied the allegations.

Pierce was outraged after Turner called Brand a ‘hero’ in a tweet and the two came to verbal blows live on air.

But it was something Pierce said during his appearance on GMB on Tuesday that prompted Reid, 52, to jump into action.

Chatting about the allegations facing Brand, Pierce chillingly remarked: ‘I was told yesterday it’s the tip of the iceberg.’

Richard Madeley then asked: ‘You were told that?’ to which Pierce replied, ‘Yep.’

Jumping in, Reid – keen to apply pragmatism – said: ‘Until allegations come out, we just don’t know what it is.’

As for Turner’s comments about Brand, Pierce told Reid and Madeley: ‘It was offensive and insulting – what about the four women who made these serious allegations? We all know how difficult it is for women to go to the authorities.’

Since The Times published its bombshell investigation on Saturday, the outlet has been contacted by ‘several women’.

Brand has been accused by women, including one who claimed she was 16 years old at the time.

He has also been accused of pursuing audience members for sex while presenting Big Brother spin-off shows EFourum and Big Brother’s Big Mouth on Channel 4, while other allegations relate to when he was a radio presenter for the BBC.

Since reports first broke, the BBC and Channel 4 have launched investigations, while a women’s charity has cut ties with the actor.

Brand worked for the BBC between 2006 and 2008, until he stepped down after a controversial prank call to Andrew Sachs, later dubbed Sachsgate.
