MANHART Unveils Turbocharged BMW E30 M3 Restomod
MANHART has revealed its latest restomod, titled the MH3 3.5 Turbo, a tribute to one of the most popular touring cars to ever be manufactured, the BMW E30 M3. Throughout the 1980s, the E30 M3 was amongst the most successful tour racers, with over 1,000 national and international victories.
Through both its performance and style-driven customizations, MANHART hopes that this particular restomod will be more than an ordinary homage and instead an example of what it means to push the boundaries in all regards.
What makes this vehicle particularly special is what lies under the hood. The custom carmaker has swapped out the vehicle’s original 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine for a turbocharged six-cylinder from BMW’s ALPINA B7 S Turbo. Post modifications, the engine now boasts an impressive 405 hp and 650 Nm of torque, paired with a K27 turbocharger and a manual boost controller.
As expected and in line with its roots, the E30 M3 connects the driver to the road through a five-speed manual transmission and a Drexler differential, complemented by a roaring MANHART exhaust system.
Externally, the MH3 3.5 TURBO’s appearance reflects its motorsport heritage, featuring carbon components like the front spoiler blade and rear spoiler — that further evoke the essence of the E30 M3 “Sport Evolution.” The vehicle is presented in a matte green foil finish with black taillights and red accent lines.
All of these design elements are tied together by the vehicle’s MANHART Concave One Wheels, which feature a striking red outline and are wrapped in 215/35R19s tires at the front and wider 245/30s at the back. Further grip and handling is provided by the MANHART coilover suspension by H&R.
Unlike the touring racers that saw endless hours of track time in the ’80s, the MH3 3.5 Turbo features a luxurious interior finish, made up of plush cardinal red leather seating, a leather-wrapped three-spoke Momo sports steering wheel and a polished wooden gear knob — both displaying the MANHART emblem.
For E30 M3 owners interested in experiencing this updated and elevated MH3 3.5 Turbo for themselves, MANHART has provided an individual inquiry form on its website.
