Phillip Schofield spotted on rare night out with This Morning star

Phillip Schofield was seen for the first time in months in high spirits as she enjoyed a meal with This Morning’s Vanessa Feltz.

The former ITV presenter, 61, and Vanessa, also 61, caught up with each other earlier this week at Little Bird restaurant in Chiswick, west London.

After spending time together at the small plates eaterie, the ex-Dancing On Ice host was spotted smiling as he warmly embraced Vanessa before she left in a black car.

Phillip has been rarely seen in public since admitting to lying about an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger runner on This Morning and subsequently resigning from all his ITV projects.

The former TV star later gave tell-all interviews in which he said he felt suicidal amid the fallout after confessing to the deceit.

‘I am in a very bad way,’ he said. ‘Mentally, utterly, utterly broken.’

He then explained he was not sleeping or eating and his mind was ‘in constant, utter turmoil’.

The presenter also expressed his devastation upon realising he may never work in TV, which he labelled his ‘safe space’ ever again.

‘I’ve lost everything. It’s all gone,’ he said frankly.

He has been supported by some fellow broadcasters, including Piers Morgan, who said he believes Phillip can ‘bounce back.’

Other stars, such as Rupert Everett, previously defended Phillip and blasted the coverage of the affair as ‘homophobic.’

This Morning, meanwhile, has been in turmoil over accusations of ‘toxicity’ behind the scenes made by former stars, including Dr Ranj Singh and Eamonn Holmes.

A significant number of people who previously and currently work on This Morning have made claims of ‘toxic working cultures, bullying, discrimination and harassment’ to Parliament.’

In response, ITV’s Dame Carolyn wrote a letter to the committee chair that stated: ‘You also say that others have come forward to you about their experience at ITV but do not feel capable of attempting to report their concerns, or that ITV will take them seriously.

‘Having taken the step to bring matters to your attention, in line with my letter to you the day after the hearing, I would ask you to continue to encourage individuals to contact ITV via our reporting line SafeCall, through which reports can be made confidentially or anonymously. Alternatively, individuals may wish to contact Jane Mulcahy KC directly.

‘As we made clear to you and the Committee, we are absolutely committed to enabling people to raise any issues or complaints they may have about working at ITV. We always take these seriously and will investigate and take whatever action is appropriate. However, we are unable to do so if we cannot engage with those people.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
