BBC Strictly’s Nigel Harmans family life and never-seen daughter

Nigel Harman's time on Strictly Come Dancing sadly came to a premature end after a shock injury forced him to pull out of the competition.

The 50 year old, who is best known for his role of Dennis Rickman on EastEnders, was left devastated after a rib injury ruled the actor his professional dance partner, Katya Jones, out of the competition just a fortnight before the final.

But what do we know about the actor's life off screen?

Nigel has been married to his wife, Lucy Liemann, for 12 years and, like her husband, she's also a successful actor.

Lucy has starred in popular TV shows such as The Bill, The IT Crowd, Midsomer Murders, Agatha Raisin, Moving Wallpaper, and Reggie Perrin.

However, she is probably best known for her role as Lucy in the third part of the Jason Bourne film series, The Bourne Ultimatum.

The couple, who reportedly met on the set of BBC series Hotel Babylon, tied the knot in 2011.

Nigel and Lucy welcomed a daughter in 2012, but her name is not known, and they have always kept their personal lives away from social media.

However, from what we do know, it seems as though Nigel chose to take part in Strictly as his daughter is a huge fan of the show.

He told whattowatch.com: "Basically Strictly has been on in our house for a while now. My daughter’s really into it and we sit down and watch it as a family, so that was a good enough reason to say yes!”

He added: “Although when I told my wife she just laughed – I’m not sure if it was because she’s thrilled for me or she was picturing me dancing!"

Nigel previously told Radio Times that his wife and daughter have been watching him and Katya in rehearsals, revealing: “My wife and daughter popped in to watch us go through our routine and they really enjoyed it. It was really lovely.”

Sadly, Nigel and Lucy’s daughter was too young to support her dad in person due to Strictly’s 16+ rule for audience members.

Nevertheless, Katya revealed how happy Nigel’s daughter had been with his performances: "I will tell you her little face – she was so proud! That's all that matters isn't it at the end of the day."
