Coronation Street fans work out Stephen Reid’s downfall after seeing plot hole
Stephen secretly replaces Elain's medication
Coronation Street fans have realised killer Stephen Reid’s (played by Todd Boyce) reign of terror could be coming to an end.
Earlier this year, the Canadian businessman murdered Rufus Donahue (Steve Meo) after being blackmailed for money.
However, things took an unexpected turn when he dropped his tie pin at the scene of the crime, which he didn’t realise until Rufus’ memorial service.
As Stephen noticed Rufus’ estranged wife Lou (Eleanor Howell) now had the pin and believed his death was suspicious, he became determined to get the pin back to avoid any connection.
Although fans of the ITV soap believe they’ve spotted a major blunder as Stephen tries to avoid connection to Rufus’ murder.

Reddit user Icy-Translator9124 said: “Wouldn’t Lou have noticed that clearly someone stole her hotel key? And immediately suspects Stephen, who she finds loitering outside her room?” (sic)
Agreeing, Sundaytripper commented: “Hotel employee here. Guests lose their cards all the time and don’t think twice about it. But yes, she should definitely find suspicious Stephen hanging around outside her room.”
Icy-Translator9124 replied: “Sure and they’re instantly replaced by the hotel.
“My point is that the key was sitting on a table at Underworld when it disappeared.
“As you suggest, the hotel wouldn’t have told him her room number, so he shouldn’t have known which room she was in. The combination of those two things is very suspicious.”

Since arriving back in Weatherfield last year, Stephen has been on a killing spree claiming his first victim Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) after he threatened to expose his lies and schemes to the family.
Not long after, Leo’s father Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) came looking for his son and soon accused Stephen of being involved.
Fearful the truth would get out, Stephen hit him over the head with a stapler and claimed his second victim before targeting Rufus.
Although he’s already killed three people, he tried to move onto his fiancée Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) in order to claim her money.
Luckily, her son realised Stephen was up to no good and her life was spared, although fans fear Stephen will strike again.
However, Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod told the Loose Women panel his killing will come to an end.
He said: “It’s a soap, bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don’t they?
“So yes, 100%. There’s a lot of fun to be had between now and then I will say.’
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm
