Emmerdales Sam devastated as actor says character is lost after Lydia rape
Emmerdale actor James Hooten says his character Sam Dingle will try to "salvage" his and his wife Lydia's "sanity" following her horrific rape ordeal.
Earlier this month, Lydia (Karen Blick) tearfully told her family the horrific things that vile Craig Reed has put her through while finally revealing that he sexually abused her. As Lydia came clean on her feelings, her husband Sam and her family members Belle and Mandy Dingle were left distraught by her harrowing revelations.
But while talking exclusively to Daily Star and other associated press, Emmerdale star James said Sam will try his best to piece together his and Lydia's sanity. He said: "When it came to pass and he found out that she had been raped, it's obviously a shock and all the emotions that come with finding something like that out.

"But essentially – he's a bit lost at some point- but he just wants to make sure his wife is OK and to salvage her sanity and ability to move through and his own I think. Part of that is what leads to Sam and Cain taking things into their own hands."
According to Emmerdale spoilers, Cain Dingle and Sam will both take matters into their own hands by kidnapping Craig. But this will lead to deadly consequences as Craig's lifeless and bloodied body will be discovered on Friday's episode (October 27) , however viewers will not know who killed him.
Shocked by his sudden death, the Dingle family will begin to ponder what could have happened to Craig, but Lydia seems to think she knows who has killed him. Realising that Sam and Cain had Craig tied him up in a remote barn, Lydia begins her investigation by focusing particularly on their whereabouts.
Sharing further insight into the upcoming scenes, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: "In an unmissable special week for Emmerdale, we focus on soap's most loved family, the Dingles, as Lydia attempts to find out who killed Craig. Expertly and innovatively directed by Gary Williams, the infamous Woolpack becomes centre stage for the group of Dingles gathered to reveal their alibis… or no alibi as the case may be!
She continued: "Stepping out of the usual Emmerdale style, a series of flashbacks will let the viewers in on the lies each person has told and the secrets they are hiding. The week will truly keep everyone on the edge of their seats with each day more and more explosive secrets revealed that promise to have huge repercussions, shatter lives and cause fireworks in the Dingles bigger than ever seen before."
