Sam Thompson announced as winner of I’m a Celeb 2023
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Sam Thompson winner has lifted the lid on which of his former co-stars he has kept in touch with from the show that made him famous. Ahead of being crowned King of the Jungle on Sunday night, the Made in Chelsea star spoke to Express.co.uk about important friendships he made on the Channel 4 show.
In a wider chat about his work with Boots, which sees him present The Locker Room series in a bid to get more men talking about their mental health, Sam spoke about his strong connection to Made in Chelsea. He also discussed the co-stars he still keeps in touch with today ahead of appearing on ITV’s most popular reality show I’m A Celeb.
Opening up about his mental health struggles, which have seen him diagnosed with both anxiety and ADHD, Sam described how meaningful his friendship with one of his former co-stars has been. He said: “I think for a lot of these things, there are no quick fixes. I think one of the biggest fixes is talking.
“I’ve been very lucky in my life, actually, that I’ve got a great group of friends that I can talk to,” the Love Island podcast presenter continued. He then went on to praise pal James Dunmore, who starred with Sam in Made In Chelsea back in 2015.
“I’ve got a friend, a guy called James Dunmour, who years ago was on Made in Chelsea with me,” Sam explained. “I message him and, if I’ve got something on my mind where I feel particularly anxious or a little bit down, I ding him a message.

“And the message will go along the lines of, ‘Hey, fancy a Nando’s on me?’ and he will literally be like, ‘Oh, here we go’.
“You know, I chew his ear off for about an hour and a half or so over a half chicken medium. But you know, I think that is so important.”
James briefly starred in Made in Chelsea alongside now-wife Lucy Watson, with the pair quickly hitting it off and leaving the show in 2016. The pair wed in 2021 and announced they were expecting their first child in September of this year.
Sam starred on the hit reality show from 2013 to 2021 with his sister Louise Thompson and, later on, his girlfriend Zara McDermott, who recently took part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

“I’ll tell you what: I absolutely love Made In Chelsea. I’m a huge fan of it,” Sam said. “I’m never one of those people who subscribe to thinking: ‘Oh, I’ve left that now. Screw them.’
“I think they’re great,” he continued. “I think what they produce is brilliant TV and I watch every single series.
Sam then admitted: “I think the series we are watching now are better than any that I’ve been on; they are so dramatic – wow.
“But saying all that, I think that my time has come and gone,” Sam confessed. “You never say never, but I think I’m too old.
