Stormzy and Maya Jama enjoy cosy catch-up together after All Points East set

Maya Jama and Stormzy were spotted laughing and catching up together backstage after the rapper’s All Points East headline set on Friday night.

The chart-topper, 30, had his hometown crowd truly bouncing in Victoria Park – despite the pouring rain – thanks to a performance branded ‘biblical’ by his fans.

Brit award winner Stormzy told festivalgoers that it was ‘one of the greatest nights of my entire life’ as he rattled through hits such as Vossi Bop, Own It, Big For Your Boots and Blinded By Your Grace.

It seemed that vibe continued on afterwards as he enjoyed some time with his ex Maya, who reportedly flew back from Ibiza to support him.

She had enjoyed the show from the photographer’s pit alongside other VIPs including Idris Elba and YouTuber Chunkz, before joining in with post-show celebrations during a private afterparty with Stormzy’s crew.

In pictures obtained by The Sun, the former couple – who split in 2019 after a four-year romance – were seen smiling and chatting as they strolled together, carrying drinks.

The duo was also given the chance to have a catch-up in the tent, were they looked pretty deep in conversation.

At one point, they sat down together during their conversation, with Maya touching Stormzy – real name Michael Omari Owuo Jr – on the arm as he leant forward, engaged in the topic.

A source told the publication: ‘Maya and Stormzy may not be officially dating anymore, but they are still close and grew up together.

‘She is really proud of him and vice versa. They’ll always have a special bond.’

‘They spent time catching up and chatting, people were looking at them and giving them their space,’ they added.

Maya, who shone this summer during her first season as host of Love Island, was thought to have made a little ‘swipe’ at Stormzy during an episode in July when she told Islanders: ‘That’s real life though girls – and boys, they’ll wear your necklace and lip someone else, we just don’t get it on camera.’

Although Maya has rarely spoken about the end of their relationship, with both keeping things pretty private, the grime star previously admitted he ‘made a mistake’ leading to their split.

He told Louis Theroux in a 2019 BBC documentary: ‘It was, like, “OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you”.

‘That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? There were other things in terms of mistakes I’d made. I didn’t do what a man should do to fully appreciate, love and care for his woman.’

Vogue cover star Maya, who recently celebrated her 29th birthday, told the magazine last month of their relationship: ‘None of us really knew the level of importance it held to a certain group of people, us being together.

‘We were both super ambitious. We were both from similar upbringings and we were both just little grafters that have made something good of ourselves. It was lovely when it was lovely, and then you move.’
