This Morning star shares secret health battle that she needed professional help for

This Morning presenter Rochelle Humes has opened up on a secret health battle and revealed how she managed to overcome it.

Appearing on Loose Women on Tuesday, 17 October, Rochelle discussed how she used to suffer with a stammer when she was a child and that she was forced to seek help for the condition.

The 34 year old told the panellists: “I saw a speech therapist and my mum got advice to send me to the GP to help me build confidence. That's why my Mum sent me to dancing and singing classes – because I had a stammer. Now you can't shut me up.”

The former Saturdays singer added that she “doesn’t notice” it much any more, even though she talks “for a living”.

Rochelle was then asked how taking part in dance and drama helped her overcome the stammer, to which Rochelle revealed it helped her with her confidence.

The presenter said: "I think my mum got advised to do that by the GP at the time, I saw like a speech therapist for quite a while but I think it was a confidence thing really, to just really find my own feet. I don't notice it as much now, of course I talk for a living as I said but if I'm nervous I will fall over myself a little bit and I'll remember to slow down."

Describing the condition as “ironic”, Rochelle continued and said: “It's so ironic because now I talk for a living you couldn't write it could you? That's actually why my mum sent me to like dance and drama on a weekend because I was just behind her leg. I had a stammer. I was really quite young and it probably went when I was in year one of school, reception year one. But yeah, now you can't shut me up”.

Rochelle has been a part of This Morning since 2013 when she joined as a fill-in presenter and has since been filling in for Holly Willoughby since she sensationally quit the show last week.

Rochelle emotionally addressed Holly’s exit to ITV viewers on 14 October where she sent her “love, best wishes and respect” to “our Holly”, as she declared that Holly "will forever be one of us".
