Strictlys Katya sparks concern with worrying detail as she makes teary goodbye

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans were left devastated as Nigel Harman and Katya Jones announced they had to pull out of the competition before the live show on Saturday December 3.

Nigel sustained an injury during rehearsals with Katya which led to him being taken to A&E, and had to miss the live show, and therefore the competition.

He and Katya appeared during the live show to explain his exit, as he told Claudia Winkleman: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men and, as I flew I was Peter Pan and as I landed, I was in A&E. I’ve done something to my rib and it’s quite painful.”

As he and Katya looked emotional about his exit, viewers couldn’t help noticing something worrying about Katya as she struggled to hold it together.

One said: "Stoppp I’m actually devastated for Nigel and Katya. Poor Katya is mess, I really believed they were finalists gutted for them.”

Another added: “Och…just terribly sad when injuries curtail people’s progress in #Strictly …Katya trying her best to hold it together…pain killers numbing Nigel’s pain AND disappointment."

A third pointed out: “Bless katya, she's been really unlucky the past few years ngl … the covid situation with nicola, then tony got injured and now nigel.”

A fourth agreed: “ "It’s Katya’s second partner to quit the competition, I’m feeling so sorry for her (and also Nigel, obvs) #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly."

Nigel admitted his fears on It Takes Two ahead of his performance as he told Janette Manrara: "The rumba, just sort of mincing around and wafting my hips in the general directions was lovely, maybe one bead of sweat," he said.

"This week, St John's ambulance is on standby. This is the complete other end of the scale."

Strictly continues on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC.
